Apparently feeling its first foray into broadcasting was a success, ESPN plans to do so once again this spring.
Heroes of the Dorm, the HotS competition that rewards college students with tuition money, is coming back for 2016. More notable is ESPN’s continued involvement; early rounds will air on its streaming service, ESPN 3, as well as YouTube and Twitch. The Heroic Four and Grind Finals will both be on television, on ESPN 2, on April 9 and 10.
, and (who is ). It was the first time it had broadcasted a collegiate esports event. With , it’s no surprise that Heroes of the Dorm is returning to the network.
More than $500,000 in tuition and prizes is at stake in this year’s tournament, and students interested in participating can now through February 18. Each member of the winning team will get up to $75,000 in tuition.
If you’re not in a position to join in, you can still win money by taking part in the bracket challenge. You can predict the outcome of the final 64-team tournament, with the most accurate prediction winning $10,000. More details on how this will work are set to be announced closer to when the tournament begins.
Qualifying rounds will take place between February 20 and March 6. The final 64 teams will then complete through late March and into early April. The full schedule and where you can watch these matches take place follows below.
